Soccer

Soccer has always been a big sport at Kalani High School, with Boys JV and Varsity teams as well as Girls JV and Varsity teams. Both of these teams have gone far in both the regular season and the playoffs. Kalani High School has been known for having a good soccer program, and every year both the boys and the girls play hard to represent Kalani.
One member of the Boys Varsity team is Tanner Arakaki. He gave some reasons for why people should join soccer: “People should join soccer because in my opinion, soccer is one of the most competitive sports at Kalani. We also have a great coach who mentally and physically pushes us. I also believe Kalani’s soccer team has one of the best soccer programs in the state. Joining soccer will guarantee to get you better at soccer and will get you mentally and physically strong.” Tanner was encouraged to play soccer by his parents when he was seven years old, and his favorite aspect of the season is when the team dyes their hair yellow during States. “My advice for people who want to join soccer is that if you want to join, get ready to work really hard and try to have fun.”
Unfortunately for Tanner, he was severely injured during a game against Moanalua. He suffered from a concussion, and also lost his two front teeth. Despite Kalani winning the game against Moanalua, Tanner had to be transported to the hospital to recover.
