Diversity is defined as the state or fact of being diverse; difference; unlikeness, according to dictionary.com. Diversity means to me that everyone is different and unique. An example of diversity is in the sport of basketball. There are a lot of different ethnicities and races in the sport of basketball. When there is diversity in the game of basketball then everyone has a special skill that they can use. When everyone on the team uses that special skill together then that basketball team will be a really talented team because of the diversity and the skills. “What we have to do… is to find a way to celebrate our diversity and debate our differences without fracturing our communities.” This quote by Hillary Clinton is a good way to describe diversity because since everyone is different, you need everyone to work together to make something special. But if everyone does not work together then the community might go down or the community will have an argument with each other. If everyone agrees with each other then we can avoid all the arguments and the fighting. Another example of diversity is in Hawaii. Hawaii is a very diverse state because people in Hawaii come from everywhere. For example, they come from Japan, mainland, and other outside countries. Everyone comes to Hawaii because they want to live in the aloha state so they come here and there are also tourist that come which makes Hawaii even more diverse. That’s what I think diversity is and that’s some examples of how I see diversity in my life.
