Freshman soccer star Brison Kim
May 9, 2016
This week I had a follow up interview with Brison Kim to see how he felt now after the season ended, as opposed to how he felt in the beginning of the season. First I wanted to see how he felt looking back on the team’s record of 11 and 2, and their undefeated 10 and 0 run in the regular season, and how they got there. “Our record was 11-2 from playing hard and playing with heart. Every time we got on the field we played with passion and that’s what got us to win games.”
I also wanted to see how he thought he contributed to the team’s outstanding record. “I contributed by being a team player. I was glad that I started in center midfield and I thought that was a big contribution to the team.”
I also wanted to see how he thinks he improved over the year seeing as he’s a freshman on lineup with 11 seniors. “I’ve improved by learning how to be a leader. In the next years coming I will be captain and I will need to lead the team to victory”
After their 10 and 0 run in the regular season to secure the first seed I was curious to how they were eliminated at all. “I think our team came into the playoffs like we were the best when we were really not, we were equal to the other good teams. Also we played on a bigger field and were use to smaller fields, we were not used to that change.”
And lastly I wanted to know how he was feeling about seasons to come, after their stellar performance this year, did he think they’d go undefeated again in the future? “Maybe not next season. But my junior and senior year I’m sure we will be undefeated. Next year we have a great chance but with 11 seniors leaving it will be hard.”
Overall it was pleasure to interview and watch the Kalani Varsity Soccer team this season as it soared through the regular season. There is no doubt in my mind if they play with fire they played with this season then another undefeated season is soon to come.
