Relationships

During class one morning a conversation amongst a few Newswriting students brewed about relationships. This got us thinking, what are our peers views on this topic? We set out to ask girls and boys from each grade level our relationship questions.
When the girls were asked, “What are some qualities you feel your partner should have?” many of them said being respectful was major part. Here are some of the answers we received:
“They have to be respectful and respect your boundaries and they have to be loyal, honest, and considerate,” Sayo Watanabe and Halie Pang, Sophomores, said.
When the guys were asked, many said a they have to have a good personality, or being trustworthy.
“She has to have a personality, a good one, and looks. Overall though, personality, if they dont have it then they’re pretty much not the one for me,” a Junior said.
The next question they were asked was, “What is essential to maintaining a healthy relationship?”
Most of the girls said communication was key.
“Always tell how you feel about a situation. Always be 50/50 in the relationship,” Aiya Souphilavong, Freshman, said.
Many guys also said communication and trust.
“Being able to trust them. You must being able to tell each other everything or anything. And no lies,” Toby Mitchell, Junior, said.
The final question they were asked was, “What are some ways to fix an unhealthy relationship?”
Most people, guys and girls, said communication was best.
“Have a one-on-on talk with them. If you’re happy try to talk to them and if they don’t try it may not be right relationship for you,” Aiya Souphilavong, said.
Many of the guys also said communication, and also spending time with each other.
“Just spend time with each other. Talk about whats happening and whats going on and how to fix it,” a Junior said.
