Kalani VS. Waialua

September 7, 2016

The Falcons suffered their second loss of the season against the Waialua Bulldogs.

In the first quarter, Waialua was able to get to the Kalani 11, but Hunter Benson of Kalani intercepted a pass to end the drive.

However, Kalani also had a pass intercepted when they got the ball back, leaving both teams scoreless at the end of the quarter.

At the start of Quarter 2, the Bulldogs recovered a Kalani fumble to score a touchdown, the PAT good. Waialua ended up going into halftime up 7-0 after the Falcons were unable to score.

With 2:41 remaining in the third, Kalani running back Jaemi Harris spun away from a tackle and scored an 81-yard touchdown, making the score tied at 7-7.

Although the Falcons defense and offense were looking good, and they were back in the game, a costly mistake ended up sealing the fate for Kalani.

A failed punt snap from Kalani led to a safety, putting the Bulldogs up 9-7 early in the fourth quarter.

From there, Waialua was able to score a touchdown, putting them up 16-7.

The Falcons continued to fight, with Quarterback Seth Tina-Sobarano running in the ball for an 11 yard touchdown after an impressive performance from Kalani’s defense.

Despite this effort, Kalani lost the game 16-14.

The Falcons look to bounce back from this loss with a game against McKinley at Kaiser High School.
