May 17, 2017
This school year was filled with exciting and new things that came to the campus. There were sports teams winning championships, clubs winning events, students being victorious in educational events and motivated students painting murals around campus.
The sports that won championships this school year was Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Swimming, Girls Soft Tennis, Girls Air Riflery, Girls Varsity Tennis, and Girls Varsity Golf. There are also students that won individual championships such as Miki Manta (Golf), Dale Emoto (Tennis), Emily Leong (Track and Field), and Czarina Pineda-Abaya (Wrestling). On top all of these sports champions, there are also students with academic related awards. Some of the academic-related awards were Hawaii State Science Fair, Art, Poetry, National Merit Scholarship, Robotics, Ocean Science Bowl, DECA, and HOSA.
Kalani High School Campus has been slightly changing this past year. There have been murals that were painted by motivated students to make the campus look cleaner and brighter. Another change that happened this year was the installation of ceiling fans in D building to make the classrooms a little bit cooler for students to concentrate more. Another new thing was the construction for a girls locker room along with a new Judo and Wrestling room which is happening in between the gym and track. The last new change is the installation of PV System on the rooftops of E building, the office, and the cafeteria. This new change is going to lower the amount of electricity that the school uses during peak hours thus, reducing Kalani’s electricity bill.
The 2017-12017 school year was filled with students achievements and many campus changes to improve the environment for the students and staff at Kalani High School.
