Kaimuki fire suspected arson
A house fire at 3257 Brokaw St. in Kaimuki on Sunday, Oct. 21 is estimated to have caused $640,000 in damages, according to Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Scot Seguirant. The homeowner was arrested Oct. 21 on suspicion of first-degree arson.
No injuries were reported and the house was said to have been empty at 9:45 a.m. when the blaze ignited the two-story structure. Over 30 firefighters were on the scene and the fire was extinguished by 10:25 a.m.
Many Kalani students have reported to Ka Leo staff that they live near or on the same street as the house, which is in the school’s district.
