The AFC Asian Cup is the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Asia organized by the Asian Football Confederation. It was held in the United Arab Emirates from Jan. 5 to Feb. 1.

A Spanish daily sports newspaper, Diario AS, concentrates particularly on football. They have statistics for every AFC Asian Cup game.
“Cong Phuong with the first time finish,” AS USA reported. “Trong Hoang with a lovely pass into the middle and the finish is perfect. 1-1.”
With the match reaching full-time and both teams still tied, the game had to be pushed to overtime. Onto penalties they go.
Jordan’s Abdel Rahman made the first penalty kick and scored. Their second kick hit the crossbar but did nothing else but rattle it. Vietnam’s keeper saved the third kick. Before their last kick, Al Ersan kissed the ball in hopes of making it into the goal and struck home.
Unfortunately for Jordan, Vietnam only missed one goal. Que Ngoc Hai, Dung Do, Xuam Troung, and Tien Dung all made their penalty kicks.
With these results, Jordan’s members dropped to the ground, unable to hide their devastation. Everyone in the stadium reacted to the results. While Vietnam’s members ran towards and tackled each other in triumph, fans from their city cheered joyfully behind them.
In the end, Vietnam won a game against Jordan after meeting and tying twice. Vietnam now continues onto the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 quarterfinals. Vietnam will face Japan next on Jan. 24.
