Junior Wins Talent Show
April 18, 2019
This year, Tiara Gomes won Falcons on Fire with her medley of Sunday Morning, Sunday Candy, and Thank U Next. Gomes started singing at a young age coming from musical parents — her mom is a singer and her dad is a self-taught musician and songwriter.
The annual talent show, Falcons on Fire, is something that most people look forward to towards the end of the year. It gives students the opportunity to present their talents in front of the school.
This competition has set Gomes on the road of success.
“This win has affected me in a positive way to continue to do what I’m doing and to continue to carry the music of Hawai’i,” Gomes says.
Kahokunani Canlas, a freshman at Kalani and a classmate of Gomes is happy for her win.
“I could tell that Tiara worked hard to win the talent show,” Canlas says.
Ms. Kaaua, Kalani’s chorus teacher is also happy for Tiara.
“She has a very beautiful and unique voice and works really hard in chorus,” Kaaua said. “Her love for music and singing shines through.”
Gomes will be representing Kalani at the Brown Bags competition on April 27.
“I felt very grateful to have been chosen,” Gomes says.
