Third-ranked Kansas Jayhawks earned the top seed in the Men’s College Basketball rankings after they dethroned top-ranked Baylor Bears with their 64-61 victory over the Bears on Saturday.

Kansas Center Udoka Azubuike led the Jayhawks with 23 points and a career-high 19 rebounds with support from Devon Dotson and Isaiah Moss combining for 24 points.

“You know it was a big win,” guard Devon Dotson said at their post-game interview. ”We know that they beat us at our place earlier in the season, and we had to get um back, and it was a big win everybody did they part on this one and just exciting.” 

Kansas had a steady 34-31 lead coming into the second half, with Azubuike being the only Kansas player to score in double figures (13 points), and recorded a double-double with almost 16 minutes left in the second half.

Kansas could’ve been in a lot of trouble if the game had gone to overtime, with both Devon Dotson and Azubuike finishing the game with four fouls. But Kansas held through with Isaiah Moss finishing the game with two clutch free throws to seal their victory, as Baylor guard Jared Butler missed the three-pointer for the tie.

Next up, Kansas will battle the unranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, hoping to maintain their top-ranked seed.
