On Sept. 16, Apple had released iOS 14, a software update for iPhones. The update comes with many new features for users and allows for easier personal customization and organization, according to Apple.

The update is available for these devices:

  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone Xs
  • iPhone Xs Max
  • iPhone Xr
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE (first and second generation)
  • iPod Touch (seventh generation)

The biggest new feature is the widgets on the home screen. You can choose different sizes and different apps for widgets. There are now some apps that allow you to customize widgets with photos.

There is also an app called shortcuts that makes getting to certain apps and websites faster and easier. Many teenagers like to use this app to customize app logos to fit their phone’s aesthetic.

Kalani High School student Annyssa Troy (12) is fond of the new update.

“I think the iOS 14 update is really unique,” Troy said. “It lets users personalize and customize their own phone with whatever they want. It really allows people to express themselves. There are other functions of the iOS 14 I’m still discovering. It’s a big update.”
