On Monday and Tuesday, April 18-19, the Kalani High School golf team competed in the OIA Golf Tournament at Pearl Country Club. The Kalani girls’ team scored a First Place win.

Kara Kaneshiro (11) is the girl’s OIA Champion who won with a score of 148.

“I think I achieved the win by staying calm and trusting my game,” Kara Kaneshiro (11) said. “Our team did really well because we were able to overcome a 5 stroke deficit to Mililani on the last day to win the championship.”

Teal Matsueda (11) placed 4th overall with a score of 152. Rachael Wang placed 12th with a score of 167. Kailee McKee placed 16th (174), Kirra Kawai placed 20th (178), and Alexis Yonemoto placed 28th (202).

“I prioritize the parts of my game that need the most attention, but I still continue to maintain the other aspects of my game,” Teal Matsueda (11) said as she prepares for the state tournament.

The Kalani Golf Team will be competing next in Ka’anapali (Maui) for the HHSAA tournament (May 6-7 Girls).
