Every Friday, from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m., Anime Club meets in room C23 of the C building. Let’s check out what they do.
This club wasn’t started by the current advisor, Kalani librarian Ms. Daphne Miyashiro, but by the previous Japanese teacher, Kishi Sensei.
“The club was opened about 10 years ago,” Ms. Miyashiro says. “I was asked to be the new advisor because I was already familiar with most of the students.”
They do a lot of anime-related stuff, like drawing in anime style. They also do fundraisers to go to “Kawaii Kon” in the spring. The only school-wide things they do are selling food at Pep Rallies and Falcon Fest.
A lot of their activities are just for members, since they have a $5 membership fee and keep track of who participates.
You might be wondering if the Anime Club is just a place to chill and talk about your favorite shows.
The answer is no, actually.
“Students tend to get loud when they are talking about something of their interest,” Ms. Miyashiro explains.
