Artist Spotlight: Halloween Horror ?
Kalani students express their personalities through their skating style, decorations, and even the scuff marks on their boards. These are some of the skateboards that belong to the students that go here. They are all in a secure stand where they are kept throughout the school day. This skateboard stand is located in front of the office right next to the library entrance. This represents skate culture here at Kalani. Students have various ways of getting places according to their preferences and age. Kalani students are diverse and their personalities are unique in every way. That’s part of what makes Kalani, Kalani.
Skateboard culture at Kalani showcases diversity
Kalani’s D building mural was painted for the Class of 2018. Handprints of some students from that class are placed on and around it with a beach's golden sand and blue ocean wave. This mural is a representation of Kalani’s strong sense of community and artistic talent. The detail and shading shows the effort and care of the students. And the handprints left behind display their sense of belonging to this school.
Handprints leave a legacy of community
This mural can be found in the upstairs hallway that connects C and D buildings. This is a great visual representation of Kalani because it shows how in the end, it is going to be great. The sun represents great endings and what is to come. The strong waves and sea represent the tough times in between. These tough times, though, will prepare you for life and help you achieve whatever you put your mind to.

Hey, my name is Elijah and I’m a junior. My desired career path falls into the medical field, but I’m still unsure about what exact job I want. My hobbies include gaming (Fortnite, Minecraft, overwatch 2, and Baldur’s Gate 3), hanging out with friends, playing Dungeons and Dragons, playing guitar, bass, and recording my own music from time to time, as well as jamming with my friends who I am in an unofficial band with (we don’t have a name). I’m a metalhead; my favorite genres include death metal, melodeath, deathcore, metalcore, grindcore, nu metal, Djent, and some thrash. Hi, my name is Jericho Carlos. I am a sophomore at Kalani High School this year. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and really like adventuring around and exploring new places. I just moved to Hawaii from California this year. I have met really amazing people and really like Kalani. I also have a dog who I treat like my kid. I want to work toward becoming a news writer/reporter in the future.
