Paul's Thoughts
Peace by definition is “freedom from or the cessation of war or violence.” We all have different interpretations of peace, but it is a common understanding that peace is something worth working towards. Recently an attack on Paris has left not only the Parisian people but the people of France and the rest of the world in shock. France has a history of promoting peace and stability. For example, during the 18th century France was in shambles, Louis XVI neglected his starving people, and there was large inequality between the rich and poor. Eventually the people rose up against the tyranny that was oppressing them and worked towards peace, resulting in the nation we know today which stands for liberty, fraternity, and equality for all people. These attacks are a direct attack on peace. Innocent blood was shed that night.ost people took no part in the effort against terrorism and yet they were targeted. As long as this brutality against innocent people continues, it will ensure that peace cannot exist. As the world found out about the tragic events that transpired we came together to honor those who were lost and to express our condolences to the entirety of France. The world was united that night. All around the world, people come together to take part in gestures of comfort for the French people, and that’s what peace is all about- ignoring the cultural and ethnic differences and uniting together for a common good.
