Kalani's bowling team waits for their bus after a long three-hour match on Thursday, Sept. 22. The time was approximately 8:20 p.m. when I captured this photo. I decided to take this photo to highlight things you don't notice when you're moving too fast. Before this, I bowled one of the weakest matches of my season, so I was feeling overwhelmed and disappointed. I went to the bathroom, stood in the stall, and took a minute to try and recuperate before being presented in front of everyone again. While waiting, one of my friends took me on a walk (unknowingly about my feelings).e went back to the group when I saw the "K-Bay Lanes" sign lit up so beautifully. I've only seen it in the daylight, so it made me feel better when I saw its red shine through. It made me think of the sign and not what was consuming me in my head.

Riki Watanabe (12) gets his temperature checked before his swim club practice. Once his temperature is checked, he is asked daily questions including if he is feeling well, does he have a sore throat, and has he been in contact with someone with COVID. If he answers no to all, he is allowed to swim. Every swimmer in Sun-Shine Aquatics has to follow the mandatory temperature check, sign in, and mask mandate until in the water. Tris is a four-year-old pit bull mix adopted from the humane society because of her bubbly personality and has already mastered five tricks, such as shake. The "adopt don't shop" slogan started from Last Chance for Animals (LCA) in Los Angeles and aims to dissuade people from purchasing a dog from a breeder or puppy mill. Every year, an estimated 1.5 million adoptable shelter dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Every time an animal is adopted a space opens up in the shelter, also allowing another animal’s life to be saved. You can enjoy time on the beach, play games, and have sleepovers with friends once again. And if you are still worried about COVID and want to be safe, technology has advanced, so now you can be on a video call with multiple friends or family. Daynna Mekaru is swinging for the fences as she practices on Dec. 6, at Roosevelt High School softball field so she can be ready for her upcoming season as a sophomore at Mid-Pacific Institute. All public parks are currently open for anyone who wants to exercise, practice, or have a picnic with family or friends. The guidelines for parks in Tier Two are five people maximum and no masks when exercising; however, masks are highly recommended if you’re not 6 feet away from a person inside the park. Students should be going to their local parks and staying in shape, especially if they’re planning on playing for a Kalani sports team which is tentatively set to resume in 3rd Quarter.
